Forestry Technician

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Instruct and provide on-the-job training to personnel in the use of wildland fire control equipment Assess size and potential of fires and determine the appropriate response Develop and select appropriate suppression tactics Direct other engine crew members where/how to position the wildland fire engine for safe and effective operation Drive and operate type 6 wildland fire engines Work often requires physical exertion overseeing fire suppression activities including walking over rough, steep, uneven terrain in all weather. Field work performed in steep terrain uneven surfaces, rocky, or covered in thick vegetation. Temperatures are frequently extreme, both from weather and fire conditions where the presence of smoke and/or dust conditions are frequently severe. The incumbent is faced with emergency situations at all hours, long shifts or multi-day assignments. Only experience and education obtained by July 11, 2019 will be considered. Minimum
Qualifications:
One year of specialized wildland fire experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
perform fire prevention activities such as patrolling to gauge fire potential and occurrence; distribute literature explaining the fire prevention program to the public; prepare fire reports; instruct and provide on-the-job training to personnel in the use of wildland fire control equipment, methods, and safety procedures; operate wildland fire engines weighing up to 18,000 pounds gross vehicle weight (GVW); assist in maintaining records of fire time and attendance work done by fire crews, and related activities, OR Completion of at least 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education directly related to this position, OR Possess an equivalent combination of graduate education AND qualifying experience. This key fire management position is categorized under the Interagency Fire Program Management (IFPM) Standard as a Forestry Technician, Moderate complexity. //www.ifpm.nifc.gov.Prior experience in wild land firefighting is required in order to carry out the duties of this position. You will not be considered for this position if you do not have prior wild land firefighting experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Promotion Potential:
This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed represent the full performance level of GS-0462-07. At lower grade levels, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-0462-07. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.The selectee may be promoted without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
